Daniel Lee

This is your Life!

You were born December 14, 1980.

Mom says you were a cute baby and you grew up to be a typical little boy.
One story she related goes like this: he was watching something on TV.
I thought it was okay, but something scared him and he jumped up and took
off running: I didn’t catch him until he got to the edge of the yard.

Another story she says went like this: when he was 4 or 5 he had make-believe
friends, Adam Pacman and Joe Pasture. One day he was outside playing.
When he came in he had a marble in his hand. When he gave it to me I asked,
“what’s this?” He said, “It’s Adam Pacman’s glass eye.” I asked him, “Where is Adam?”
He said, “He’s outside looking for his eye.”

Another one she told us goes like this: on the fourth of July all of my family—aunts,
uncles, and cousins—were getting together. I always made boiled cookies.
One year I didn’t have enough oats so I sent Daniel out to borrow some from his aunt.
On the way home he dropped them and they spilled out on the dirt road.
He picked them up but didn’t tell me about the spill. I made the cookies
and they looked just as they should, but when everyone started eating them
they found rocks in them. I said, “I’m going to check my stuff. The company
that made the stuff with rocks in it would know about it.” Everybody agreed
they should know. I said that they would. When we got in the car to go home,
Daniel whispered to me that he had dropped the oats in the road and picked them up.
Then I knew how the rocks got in there.

Daniel, you were called to preach at 15 years old. Your first massage, from Psalm 23,
was only 5 minutes long. But it was most meaningful to you because your dad got his
life right with the Lord then.

After graduating from high school you went to Memphis to seminary where you met your
lovely soon-to-be wife, Melanie. You were married April 29, 2006 and graduated from
seminary May 12, 2006. Your graduation picture includes the seminary president, Michael Spradlin.

You and Melanie worked with the youth in Memorial Baptist Church in Memphis. Also, you witnessed
to many people and enjoyed a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. There you had the pleasure
of seeing one young man give his life to the Lord after you shared the gospel with him at a football game.

Your ordination was at Seventh Street Baptist Church on August 10, 2008,
where you again worked with the youth.

Daniel, you came to Enon to lead our worship service during the early months of 2009.
In April you were called to be our pastor. At that time Melanie was pregnant with Abby.
On the third Sunday in April, 2009, our Homecoming/Decoration Day, you started as pastor.
And what a way to start! The song leader was out with broken bones, so you had to lead
the singing, take charge of the program, and lead the worship service. A job well done!
During Vacation Bible School in July 2009, Abby was born. She will always be our baby!
Your first year went by quickly and with few snags. You enjoyed the fellowship with the
members and was comfortable enough with them to “crash” at their houses, taking a long
Sunday afternoon nap at one.

Abby grew just as quickly. There were many “firsts” for her including a “family” Christmas.
“My family (Greta Eady) will always remember your kindness to us during our loss of Mike—for
being there with us during hard times and for your comforting words during the service.”
“We all love you!”
